The most obvious way is they don't charge a surcharge for stocks below 1$. Sharebuilder charges .0007 per share. The other way is through refunds of the trade fee they charge...for new traders they refund it back. The other way is you can have a margin account for as little as $2000 deposit so you can trade unsettled funds. I had to wait 3 days for funds to settle. Hold my shares over night.. all sorts of craziness. I basically sat in ATRN for 12 weeks long completely clueless to all of the profit taking I could have been doing.
