I don't think it was intended to be any sort of bait and switch. Perhaps Jeff Robinson is a good salesman. As I see it, ASYI initially thought birthday slam was going to amount to something. But when they saw no appreciable progress in the customer base for that app, saw no release of the next version, they wisely pulled the plug on the whole deal. We don't know all of the details behind the terms.
Most companies try to gracefully bow out if a deal goes South. They will paint an amicable parting of ways, even when it might not be the case.
Please be aware that this is all just conjecture on my part.
This is a great move. I just hope the market sees it that way as well.
