Let's take RED BULL for example. (AS an example) That marketing campaign is smart, witty, funny, with a little edge to it, but not in your face. (Bionic tonic.. random celebs telling me to buy it.. ya.. hmm.. no). You see Red bull posters and banners at sporting events, etc.. but it's never center of attention.. you don't get this with Bionic Tonic. (Reason 1. Definitely don't have the BUDGET for it, this is always a factor and unfortunately a big one, Reason 2. You don't have enough LOYAL fans. It hasn't caught on. 9 Retailers in the world. (I say this because the site JUST got updated to include CGAQ). If you want to cater to the GENERIC, DISCOUNT energy drink (which because of budget constraints ... you have to..) you aren't making huge profits.
