It's central Virginia's turn to show NASCAR officials why the Richmond area should become home to NASCAR’s “Hall of Fame.” NASCAR officials have already visited several of the other cities that want the attraction. And Tuesday, they come to Richmond.

Over the weekend, organizers released their first choice for the museum's location. It’s a 250-acre plot along I-95 just below the I-295 interchange.

The ‘Virginia Tourism Corporation’ say as many as 700-thousand people will visit the NASCAR Hall of Fame the first year if it's built in the Richmond area.

State tourism folks say thousands would come directly, first to see the museum, then they would stay to see any number of Virginia's other amenities and those tourists would spend between 9 and 11 million dollars a year in the commonwealth.

So, who is going to pay for this 100 million dollar museum? Henrico County and the Commonwealth will finance a portion of it.

Supporters hope hundreds, perhaps thousands, of you can help convince NASCAR. A rally in support of the project is set for Tuesday afternoon in downtown Richmond.

They ask fans to get out their NASCAR paraphernalia and come on out to the Patrick Henry Building at the State Capitol by 1:45PM.

Those folks who show up will also get free stickers, t-shirts and buttons while supplies last.
