I for one can absolutely vouch that I have put a series of buys at the ask and it get transacted as a red sell. L2 is a great guide on dollar and volume but you have to really put it in context with everything. I added a lot of shares yesterday and l2 listed about 25% of them as sells even though I smacked the ask. Typ when volume is starting you can place it on the ask and if someone else is buying the available shares just disappear and the ask rises then putting your remaining on the bid and someone then might drop on you.
Yesterday was a day more powerful than many believe. Big moves ahead.
