Number of units in first shipment? From what I saw in person at OHM (believe me or not), I would guesstimate the first shipment was either 50 or 100 units.
If there were 50, that means about 25 units sold per day from just two stores.
If there were 100, that means about 50 units sold per day from just two stores.
I will assume the second round of production of 500 units (that number was taken from the April 9, 2012 PR) will be easy to sell based on the success of the first shipment selling out quickly.
If other retailers/dispensaries in CA start stocking and selling the Cannacig or pocket puffer, who knows how many units will be sold.
Oh and let's not forget, there are other states like Arizona (WeGrowAz) showing interest.
As far as speculation that this is just a modified/re-labeled e-cig model 510 or whatever, does anyone care as long as it's selling (which it did)? And just because there are other vaporizers on the market (similar or not), doesn't mean there can't be another one allowing the consumer to have a choice.
In my opinion, there is room for the Cannacig, Pocket Puffer, and all the other add on brands. And speaking of brands, if a product does what it's supposed to do (and yes the Cannacig does from my own personal use of the unit) isn't the success of the product based on marketing and branding? If so, I think RFMK is heading in all the right directions with their stated plans. After all, there is a market as we can see by the number of vaporizer options available, and so far the branding with the logo, packaging, and catchphrase "a breath of fresh vapor" is pretty solid.
RFMK does not have to be the biggest and best company making a product within their industry. But the fact that they have a product in this relatively new industry not only gives them a good chance at capitalizing on the present market, but definitely gives them a leg up on future competition as the sector continues growing. There's a whole new generation of people out there that the Cannacig / Pocket Puffer will appeal to and be their point of reference down the line.
