Bbcbro, Cortex has essentially gone 'virtual', with insufficient funds for even preclinical development, much less clinical trials. They have been looking for partners for Respiratory Depression, Sleep Apnea, ADHD, etc.

CX-1632 -- Servier owns this co-developed high impact, and they moved it thru Phase 1 successfully. Servier has a Phase 2 trial in Alzheimer's planned, but Neuro said he didn't think the Phase 2 had started yet.

MJ Fox Foundation (Parkinson's) -- They are evaluating Cortex's lead high impact CX-1846 in animal models of Parkinson's. Neuro recently said -- >>> I'm still hoping for nonhuman primate PD data in the next couple of months, if distinctly positive, perhaps turning into MJFF support for human testing (they've paid for some of Ceregene's clinical testing for CERE-120) <<<

NIMH grant for Depression -- In the Sept 2011 R+R presentation, Varney said they had submitted for a grant from the NIMH / Natl Institute of Mental Health. The NIMH is looking for a rapid acting antidepressant.

Central Sleep Apnea - In the Sept 2011 R+R presentation, Varney discussed a trial protocol for a Central Sleep Apnea Phase 2, pending future funding/partnership. Varney said that 40% of Congestive Heart Failure patients have Central Sleep Apnea.

Cortex will need money fairly soon. They had $1.7 mil at year end 2011. Annual salaries to the 5 company principals total approx $1.4 mil/year. They had voluntarily reduced their salaries last year when the money was extremely tight, but I'm not sure if that reduction is still in effect. Either way, they'll need some type of cash infusion later in the year, either a partnership, asset sale, financing, or some combination.
