I would like to add something that is not directly in line with
mmrg but the whole concept of this...

http://www.horizon-bcbsnj.com/news_room/news_releases/article.html?id=33878

The above link is showing how the team effort and private non mandated thought on actual care can help this nation and you and I
save money.

Here is the cost savings.
and btw. there has to be a phr involved to keep this on track imho...

Cost and Utilization Indicators
• 10% lower cost of care (per member per month)
• 26% lower rate in emergency room visits
• 25% lower rate in hospital readmissions
• 21% lower rate in hospital inpatient admissions
• 5% higher rate in the use of generic prescriptions

I have stated some time ago that online health is the future..
We are now seeing "APPs" that can and do check your body ...
and those apps send out a digital report. The PHR team that steps up and has a platform to accept those results will be a big winner
in the PHR field.
The Dream / concept is pretty darn simple.
I as end user plug in a app to my phone/xbox what ever and do
some dance or what ever. the app is checking the heart rate.
scanning the sweat and breath with a bio-sniff sensor and recording that info into my phr. My phr is set up according to my age and general health by my local doctor who has the knowledge of my individual health state. (I have to go see him/her at the get go)
The parameter has been input by the doctor.
If at anytime the Parameter is missed the doctor is informed along with myself and I go back for a check up .
How many visits can we avoid. How much time can we save.
This is going to happen sooner or later. The Diabetic on constant
watch for their health and well being. The person with a heart zapper. So many different issue we all have to deal with at some point in our life.
What about the young football player who drops on the field for a missed heart condition. Who most likely played the wii who if they had the Connected app could of been saved. OMG!! this is going to get so huge and help so many people in the future it will blow your mind. But back to the ground here. Can this firm sustain where others have failed. Can they get the needed revenue to survive in this market place? They have a solid product that has proven to me beyond the shadow of a doubt the usefulness of having at a click of a button a personal health record. But the hard part is the Education of not only the public but the medical profession.
Remember I had to make the doctor go back and look at my sons two year old x ray. We got lucky but if the medical profession sees a person with a phr. They should have the knowledge and motivation
to use it. And think of this. What if my son did have a cancer and I assumed the doctor looked at the past x ray, that I provided in my PHR. Yeah. that is right he has dropped the ball.
I will not ever again presume my doctor has taken the time to know and understand my medical history until I ask him/her.
Ranting done.
have a good day..
