You are right. It is not UNUSUAL to have snow in Silverton in September. In fact, it is not unusual to have snow in July. But, it is unusual for the snow to stick around in September. USUALLY, the snow does not begin to accumulate until the end of November to December. The county road is plowed and kept open all winter to about 3 miles past the POW Mill site.
