CAS Medical announces publication in Congestive Heart Failure Journal of study demonstrating value of FORE-SIGHT to measure cerebral oxygenation (CASM) 2.17 : Co announced the publication of a study illustrating the unique value that the Company's FORE-SIGHT Absolute Cerebral Oximeter offers for the evaluation of patients with congestive heart failure and related conditions. The study compared cerebral oximetry levels and pulse oximetry readings in 30 patients with congestive heart failure. The clinicians found that monitoring peripheral pulse oximetry oftentimes did not predict low cerebral oximetry values. 'The direct measurement of absolute cerebral oximetry values is necessary to provide unique information not available from other monitoring means. By using the FORE-SIGHT Oximeter, our study showed that patients that present to clinicians with compromised heart function from congestive heart failure can have low cerebral oxygenation levels despite having normal pulse oximetry readings. Our work suggests that cerebral tissue oxygen saturation is an important measurement in heart failure patients and may be a useful marker of target organ perfusion.'
