I understand your point jtomm. However the attorney is a crucial piece of the pie here. If the doctor is selling receivables where a grade-C attorney (and there are lots of these) is the one doing the case - the chances of receiving that cash or the same % of cash go way down. This isn't a turnkey business that you or I could set up in a week buying receivables from doctors.

Blame SPIN's slide for oversimplifying it.

And for sure someone else could enter the business from this angle - but so far they haven't. There have been other companies that have done similar things.

I'm sure at some point SPIN will be successful enough that someone will try to "me too" it. I doubt SPIN will be around as it is today by that point - they will sell out long before that. The company will be sold within five years for sure and probably within three.
