Yes, a buyback would certainly appear in the financials in more than one place. A buyback HAS to be disclosed. That doesn't mean the company has to PR it in epic fashion so as to cause a runup in share price (That would be stupid and counter productive.), but it does have to be disclosed in some way, shape, or form.

All IMO of course.
