Reasons for TECO stock slide - - -I don't profess to know exactly what is going on with TECO price per share lately.

However any stock manipulation is illegal and if discovered the offender should be prosecuted.

If TECO expected big investors of either cash or labor (such as a new hire) from Mr. York's presentation, some investors may seek to get more treasury stock for a given amount of investment by first driving the price down artificially. I'm long TECO like most writers on this discussion board as it has excellent potential long term. Thus I got to thinking about why the stock drifts lower while the news is getting progressively better.

I hope a Bear Play is not in the works. If discovered, its players can be in serious trouble.

I found this to be very interesting: http://knowledge.wharton.upenn.edu/article.cfm?articleid=1939

The article describes Bear Raid' Stock Manipulation: How and When It Works, and Who Benefits.

It quotes the article Manipulation and the Allocational Role of Prices and says:

For the manipulation to work, the stock's price moves have to influence the firm's decision whether to go ahead with its spending plan. This is likely if three conditions are met: The value of the spending plan is not expected to be too high, there is a good deal of uncertainty about how the plan will turn out, and the firm expects to get useful feedback from the financial markets about the wisdom of its plan.

Personally I'd rather let TECO keep developing at its own pace based on its own funds than scramble to develop faster by selling treasury stock at its present low price or give away lots of stock to sign up a new hire just to more quickly raise more funds and staff to develop faster.
