A war against Iran over oil would be political suicide for any career politician and would unite the middle east against the United States.

A very bad move in this political chess game. Historically the US would use their economic muscle to get keep their allies in line but the US political muscle has gone limp and the world knows it.

Your have a lot of insight milo and enjoying reading your posts. Respectfully this is just my opinion of course
