Why would AMWI hitch it's wagon to RIM? RIM has gone from $60 to $12 in the last year.

The DoD has just certified its first non-Blackberry device: an Android-based tablet known as the Dell Streak (03-20-12). This is very bad for RIM.

iPhone replaces BlackBerry as top smartphone among mobile workers (http://articles.latimes.com/2011/nov/21/business/la-fi-1121-mobile-workers-20111121).

Apple overtakes BlackBerry on RIM's home turf of Canada(http://www.latimes.com/business/technology/la-fi-tn-blackberry-iphone-canada-20120323,0,2682332.story).

I have searched for any information about AMWI being involved in smartphone encryption and I can't find anything. Even on their site all they talk about in mobile technology is "relationship-building" software.

They even compare themselves to website building companies such as Open Table, Inc. and Intuit Inc. Neither company is involved in encryption.

Even if RIM was involved with a small company - the principals in AMWI would preclude any serious company from partnering with them.
