Definitely true when talking about NYSE, NASDAQ, etc. When these types of exchange stocks trade at certain levels, at a minimum it entices mutual funds / institutionals to flock to them. I have heard on many occasions it is a requirement for some mutual funds/ institutionals to buy them, but not sure how true it is about $5 being a requirement. I am not going to give my opinion on the chances of an institutional or mutual fund picking up MMTE shares.
