I liked Shogun very much, one of my favorite books. Reread it recently. Haven't read Whirlwind yet. Clavell died many years ago so there won't be any more.
As for being safe, I am expecting a dog bite today, possibly a kitchen fire, and when I finally get my car running again today (I hope) I will expect a case of road rage. Demons are after me right now.
Fair winds and calm seas will return, and I am ready whenever they are.
