TDA has no symbol change issues

My TD Ameritrade account shows the new symbol, and I had no trouble placing an order to sell 5000 at $0.60. I cancelled that order one minute later.

My guess the problem is with your broker.

The symbol immediately after the reverse was SSNTD, and then it became SSNTA, to reflect Class A Common, on Aug 8, 2011:

You could be right that the change is because it's now wholly owned, but they could have made the change several weeks ago if that was the case.

IMO, the new symbol is probably because they don't immediately plan to trade a Class B, and don't want to give the impression to potential new investors that they do (or will).
