SEC does not help the current shareholders. Protects new investors and fines the old management which cry they are broke and get reductions of fines which barely cover the SEC's legal cost. They also get a few years suspension if they issued unregistered shares but not much more, maybe bars management for a little time too. Only shareholder suits recover monies for shareholders. They can take 5 to 10 years and most lawyers will laugh if it is not a IBM they are suing. But if you want to inconvenience KUNI for a year or two bring the SEC down on him but don't expect much more than that. All based on past bad pennies I followed.
