SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Chesapeake Energy Corp. (CHK) said after the closing bell on Wednesday that it plans to offer $500 million of senior notes due 2017 in a private placement. The Oklahoma City-based natural gas producer said it plans to use the proceeds from the offering to repay debt under its bank credit facility.
