Tirex to Present and Sponsor Conference on Albanian Natural Resources April 19th, 2012
Tirex Resources is pleased to report that Bryan Slusarchuk, CEO, will be presenting at the upcoming Conference on Albanian Natural Resources, being held in Albanian on April 19th, 2012.
During the conference, organized in part by the Foreign Investors Association of Albania (FIAA), Tirex will present on its experience in Albania transitioning from exploration to production. Tirex is represented on FIAA by Prof. Dr. Perparim Alikaj, who is the Chairman of FIAA’s Subcommittee on Minerals, Oil and Gas.
After 5 years of hard work on the ground, and after having invested more than USD $25 million directly into Albania as an exploration company, Tirex recently has announced a plan to fast track into copper and gold production in six specific areas of the Mirdita Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide district located in Northern Albania, where the company has expanded significant focus.
In addition to conducting the largest systematic modern exploration of this district, Tirex is also proud of having ushered in new standards in the Albanian mining industry for environment, health, safety and community. These high standards, based on a best practices approach between Canadian and European mining approaches, were implemented by Tirex with the assistance of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), a major financial backer of the company.
Tirex, publicly traded in the United States, Canada and Germany, recently announced the appointment of Mr. Jeffrey Griffin to the Board of Directors. Mr. Griffin, former CEO and President of the Albanian-American Enterprise Fund (AAEF) and former Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Albania, was awarded (in 2009) the Medal of Appreciation from President Topi of Albania for outstanding service to Albania in helping to create and enhance a vibrant private sector economy. Mr. Griffin joins a Tirex team that has been working hard in Albania for the past five years; a team that looks forward to working many more years within this important segment of the Albanian economy, the natural resource sector.
