Until haf-way through the senior season.. I was one of the pitchers for my HS -- we had 3 of the top 30 best pitchers in the LA City county -- about 1/2 way through our senior baseball season, I broke my wrist, dislocated my elbow, broke about 4 small bones on my hand.. Joe, he broke his leg falling off a motorcycle, and Noe broke his elbow playing a pick-up football game. All on the same week!!
Our Coach Gonzalez was pisst our record was 8-1 and then we ended like 11-12 for the season. Joe was highly recruited by USC and UCLA, Noe by about 5 PAC 10 universities, and I was by Arizona State and Washington.. not good enough for the California Universities.
All three of us did not play the rest of the year...
Coach Gonzalez still coaches at my Old HS - when I was recruiting for the US Army in 1997; he still remember me and I asked to speak to the baseball and football teams about the Army; when he saw me he was still mad -- he told me to "%^* off" -- he did let me talk to his football team, but also had me speak of the importance of been careful and not playing sports that you do not play in HS.
He told his football team that my Old HS had never won the LA City Title and that year was our best chance ever, and even now they have not even made it to the quarterfinals.
