I think the people that own the republican party are using the left to help them get rid of Limbaugh. The right combination of things have lined up to give the fascists the opportunity to get rid of him and still get some shots in on the liberals.
Rush has outlived his usefulness, as pure hate speech is driving too many people away, and elections can no longer be won by just appealing to white males who feel threatened by minorities. And getting on the wrong side of him is not something even hardened republican wing nut morons dare do, as the consequences are swift and sure, he will attack anyone that isn't involved in his demented world.
While at a dinner party last weekend, a guest that has only a few words of English summed it up with "Rush = hater". Out in the fields, the radio is the form of noise available to immigrant laborers. And Rush is often their introduction to the republican party. And why they all fear him, as he is no friend of immigrants. He also stirs up hatred of HIM, a growing demographic. The redneck racists don't really need a bonding experience every day anymore, they have the tea party. I think the whole fiasco is a way to tone down Rush-type rhetoric for the election, as losing women, minorities, and people with an IQ over 100 kind of makes winning elections difficult for the republicans without some major fear factor in play.
The "slut" word lacks real shock value any more. Republicans seek them out as marriage prospects and sometimes as candidates.
Discerning Democrats know that when combined with birth control, they can be the salt of the earth.
I just wish the republicans would do their own dirty work and police their own morons instead of trying to con us into doing it for them.
