Last evening, my wife and I attended the Mason Dixon chapter of Safari Club International's annual benefit dinner and auction. Our chapter does a lot of really good stuff, but this one is way beyond good.

Last fall, one of the members who owns a hunting preserve donated a hunt for a group of veterans who were wounded in action and are recovering. The hunt included unlimited birds, accomodations, and meals for five vets. Two were marines, two army, and one navy. Winchester/Federal donated the shotgun shells used. A number of our members worked the event, doing such things as needed done.

Last evening, we auctioned off a number of items to finance another hunt this coming fall, and we raised over $2,000 toward it. We are thinking about going a bit farther and doing a deer hunt for some of the guys who gave a bit more so you and I can be free.
