I think that 6 months should be enough to get the ASTC stock price back over $1 but I am speculating. I think they are asking for the reverse split to have a tool to meet the listing requirement in case they can't do it organically. If you read the DEF 14A it sounds like they likely will not do the reverse split if they get the stock price over $1 but they don't say for sure. The relevant text is: "Although we do not currently anticipate effectuating the Reverse Stock Split if our common stock’s closing bid price satisfies the minimum closing bid price requirements prior to the expiration of our compliance period, we may still effect the Reverse Stock Split if our shareholders approve this Proposal and our Board of Directors subsequently determines that effecting the Reverse Stock Split would be in the best interests of the company and its shareholders."
