Isn't it's 'past' already factored into the share price? The market is forward-looking, right? I don't think anyone here could or should try to define past practices by the industry. But FNMA was a mere contributor, the illegalities in the process were perpetrated well before FNMA stood behind the loans. They didn't do their part, no doubt. But the ire of the public should be directed at the 'other' parties in the industry. At least for the most part.
