Living Cell Technologies Limited (ASX: LCT; OTCQX: LVCLY) today announced that it has been granted U.S. Patent No. 8,088,969 from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The patent, which was issued on 3 January 2012 and expires on 10 November 2028, provides exclusive rights to the use of cells and tissue derived from Auckland Island pigs for xenotransplantation therapies. It protects the holder’s ability to commercialise therapies based on its core cell encapsulation and xenotransplantation capabilities.
