I don't think the word launch was used in a bad way at all, so matter-of-fact people announce lunching of this lunching of that way before the actual lunch starts, for example some place announces a Christmas sell 2 to 3 months before the actual sale starts, this just to keep people in the loop and to let them know that a sell is imminent. They announced the launch, they didn't say that it "was launched" , this is almost like talking to preschooler and letting them know exactly word for word what they are reading a book!!! PAY ATTENTION!!!
