I’m not justifying anything. It’s not my company so it’s not my place to justify or not to justify.
However, Koos is not the only one working on this thing. The company does have an advisory board of doctors and scientists ( see page 5 of 10K http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1449447/000139390511000728/entest_10k.htm ) who according to reports have contributed highly to the development of this technology.
As far as the safety studies go, I have seen no news stating any of the dogs died. According to the 10-K (page 4) “As of November 1, 2011 three dogs suffering from oral melanoma have been administered the therapy with neither dog suffering any material adverse reaction.”
None of the abovestated is any guarantee that the therapy will work or, even if it does, will demonstrate sufficient efficacy that it will be accepted in the marketplace. That is why I consider stocks like this lottery tickets to be invested in only with “play money”.
If it pans out even a small position can yield substantial returns and if it doesn’t the investment is not material anyway.
