El Paso Electric Company is a utility company engaged in the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity in an area of approximately 10,000 square miles in west Texas and southern New Mexico. The Company also serves a wholesale customer in Texas. The Company owns or has significant ownership interests in six electrical generating facilities providing it with a net dependable generating capability of approximately 1,643 megawatts. During the year ended December 31, 2010, the Company’s energy sources consisted of approximately 45% nuclear fuel, 27% natural gas, 6% coal, 22% purchased power and less than 1% generated by wind turbines.
