You are right it is an expesive Hobby, but it isnt for your average Joe. From what Elaine at TDG told me it can cost upwards of $10,000.00 to get started, including certification, there are different types of CCRs and you have to be trained for spacific CCRs, You also need that training before you can purchase a CCR.
It seems to me it's a hobby for divers that can afford to spend big bucks! The Blu Vu BOV for an upgrade on CCRs Is going to be around $700.00, you can get into SCUBA diving for that easy. To put it bluntly, It's a rich persons hobby!
