Vin- I realize the idea of a non-trading portfolio might seem silly. It’s just a term I’ve always used—perhaps more of a way of thinking—for a small group of stocks that I’ve owned for a long time and don’t trade in and out of. I’ve literally got them in a separate stock account.

My active trading account is for things that I’m in for a week, a month or two, etc. I have a hard time believing that I'm the only person in the world who does this, despite Jbog's incredulity. smile

Last year I moved MNTA from the latter to the former, because I realized that I had a long-term belief in the future of the company, and I was too piss-poor a trader to keep buying and selling it short term!

Jbog seems like a very experienced and knowledgeable trader. Although I don’t agree with most of his politics and none of his opinions about MNTA, I actually envy his and other's abilities to successfully scalp such unpredictable equities.

Best of luck. -ob
