I think this is exactly right. They are capacity constrained on chipsets, so it makes sense to use the capacity for high end material.


Seems like, there are some indications, that chipset tightness may be easing...

Kingston starts increasing DDR2 procurement
In line with comments made by A-Data Technology chairman Simon Chen concerning the easing of tight supply of Intel chipsets from the second half of this month, Kingston has started increasing the amount of DDR2 it is sourcing, market sources stated. Such a move may spur a wave of purchases on the spot market in the following weeks, the sources noted.
