My theory (just a theory) is that they realize they are out on the fringe/edge, and they aren't comfortable being out there all alone, being the cowards by nature that they are .... so they go to any length to try and convince others to join them, to convince others that they are right, and that they are the enlightened ones who have found the answers to the mysteries of life. Those who don't fall for those 'lines' therefore become 'idiots', 'stooges', and any other slur or insult that enters their mind. Truth is they don't know anything (hence, remarks like: We have to pass it to find out what is in it) and become very upset and disturbed when anyone points out the logical and obvious errors in their thinking. For instance, they believe they can spend America to prosperity ...... which, to most of us, makes absolutely no sense at all. They are also very prone to react based on emotion rather than fact or common sense, so they fall for the 'hope and change' and 'yes we can' sort of pied piper bullschitt.

Now that I have said all that, I actually have absolutely no idea why they do what they do, or say what they say, or believe they can win hearts and minds by calling people fools, because those tactics defy logic. You will note however that when challenged with a direct question, requiring a 'yes' or 'mo' answer, they become defensive and lash out ... feeling cornered and disappointed their pied piper leader is not there to bail them out.

Whew! Glad that's over!
