NewStar Financial, Inc. (NewStar) is a specialized commercial finance company focused on meeting the complex financing needs of companies and private investors in the middle market. The Company principally focuses on the direct origination of loans and leases that meet its risk and return parameters. The Company’s direct origination efforts target mid-sized companies, private equity sponsors, corporate executives, regional banks, real estate investors and a range of other financial intermediaries to source transaction opportunities. It also participates in loan syndications as a member of a lending group. On November 1, 2010, the Company acquired Core Business Credit, LLC. In January 2011, it launched the Equipment Finance group to lease essential-use equipment for mid-sized companies.
