mm's have nothingto do with it. The broker you are using can lend your shares to another client to be shorted (sold) and it doesn't matter if you have a sell set or not. How you stop them from lending them is to call and tell them you do not want your shares to be available for shorting.
The "set a high limit sell" thing is a myth. Call your brokerage and ask them.
