Griffin Land & Nurseries, Inc. (Griffin) is engaged in real estate business and a landscape nursery business. Griffin is engaged in two lines of business: a real estate business comprised of ownership, construction, leasing and management of commercial and industrial properties and development of residential subdivisions on real estate owned by Griffin in Connecticut and Massachusetts, and a landscape nursery business comprised of the growing of containerized plants for sale principally to independent retail garden centers, rewholesalers, whose main customers are landscape contractors, and mass merchandisers. It also owns a 4% interest in Centaur Media plc, a magazine and information services publisher based in the United Kingdom, and a 14% interest in Shemin Nurseries Holding Corp., a company that operates a landscape nursery distribution business through its subsidiary, Shemin Nurseries, Inc. In January 2012, it sold of its 308,000 square foot warehouse in Manchester, Connecticut.
