The Company operates in the United States, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Ireland, Japan, Mexico, Portugal, Romania, and the United Kingdom. Its national networks include a total of 136 processing or combined processing and collection sites, and 129 additional transfer, collection or combined transfer and collection sites as of December 31, 2010. Stericycle, Inc.’s regulated waste processing technologies include autoclaving, its own electro-thermal-deactivation system (ETD), chemical treatment and incineration. During the year ended December 31, 2010, the Company completed 33 acquisitions, of which 12 were domestic regulated waste and compliance businesses, one was domestic return management business and 20 were international regulated waste businesses in Latin America, Europe, and Japan. In April 2011, the Company acquired Healthcare Waste Solutions, Inc.
