Mobile ticketing is the way of the future - MTIXTM sets the standard

July 11th 2005 sees the official launch of MTIXTM Australia, Australia's premier mobile ticketing solution provider.

While for some fans paper tickets will always retain sentimental value a growing percentage of tickets across all types of events, from concerts to sporting matches, festivals and even exhibitions are now being delivered electronically, either via SMS to a mobile phone or email as a .PDF to print at home.

Scott Tulloch, Sales Director for MTIXTM commented "Considering only 56% of Australians have access to the internet at home, but 85% own a mobile phone, it only makes sense to use SMS as the preferred delivery method. This means loyal fans no longer have to waste time queuing to collect tickets to see their favourite band or DJ. Mobile tickets will become the favoured delivery option with consumers because of their convenience and immediate delivery."

An MTIXTM mobile ticket is received via SMS after the completion of an online transaction. It contains a unique barcode plus event related information is received directly to the consumer's mobile phone. At the entry point of the event the barcode is scanned off the screen of the phone and validated against a secure Access Control platform. For the small percentage of phones that cannot receive the barcode a numeric code is delivered and then keystroked in at the point of entry.

Over the past 24 months the events industry has witnessed a massive shift in mindset as promoters and venues have embraced the internet and the effectiveness of e-marketing. Promoters and venues now realise that they are not nearly as reliant as they once were on the big two ticket sales channels.

For several years two players, Ticketek and Ticketmaster7, have dominated the ticketing landscape. But this is all about to change. Their domination has not been based on value and service but more so based on the fact that these two companies buy the exclusive ticketing rights to the major venues. For too long they have only been able to maintain a strangle hold on the market and create a duopoly situation.

MTIXTM provides a unique service and platform for event organisers to take back control and market, sell, distribute and validate tickets at events using electronic tickets, which delivered to your mobile phone or printed out at home. There is no need to ever produce or post a paper ticket to the end consumer again.

Australia is now one of the leaders in the world for 'mobile ticketing'. Last month CeBIT Australia set a world record for the largest 'mobile ticketed' event with 13,000 people selecting to receive their ticket directly to their mobile phone. In the past 12 months several concerts for big name acts such as Jet, Grinspoon, Machine Gun Fellatio, Dallas Crane, The Prodigy, Black Keys, The Frames and even old time rockers Echo & the Bunnymen have all sold and delivered up to 52% of tickets as 'mobile tickets'.

inthemix partners with AURA to deliver Australia's first 100% mobile ticketed event

inthemix.com.au [ITM], Australia's leading dance music portal, partnered with AURA Digital Communications have achieved an Australian first by selling 100% of tickets to the Deep Dish event at YU in Sydney via mobile ticketing, rather than as traditional physical paper tickets.

inthemix customers were able to securely purchase online and then receive their tickets directly to their mobile phone, eliminating the need to produce and distribute paper tickets.

The patron receives an SMS containing a barcode and event information, which is then scanned at the entry point to validate the ticket.

Libby Clark, inthemix Director commented, "The mobile ticketing option definitely makes sense for our customer-base as nearly all of them own a mobile phone. It's so much faster and easier for us than having to post out paper tickets. As a consumer receiving tickets to your phone is so much more convenient."

Adam Dunne, Sales & Marketing Director for AURA Digital said, "This milestone signifies that mobile ticketing is here to stay. CeBIT Australia sets a world record for the largest mobile ticketed event in history

CeBIT Australia 2005, part of the largest consumer electronics and technology exhibition series in the world, created a world record by issuing 13,000 m-tickets direct to attendees' mobile phones when they pre-registered online. This represented 30 per cent of attendees requesting their tickets as a mobile ticket.

"This is the first time m-ticketing has been used for a CeBIT exhibition and it is a world record for m-ticketing," says Jo-Anne Kelleway, Director of exhibition registration specialist InfoSalons. "The mobile ticketing technology for CeBIT Australia was developed by AURA Digital Communications and delivered by messaging expert Vodafone Target."

"The m-ticket solution dramatically improved our ticket fulfilment process. Door staff saved time scanning phones rather than issuing tickets at the event and attendees said they liked the convenience of mobile tickets."

"The m-ticket option confirmed consumer acceptance of mobile ticketing, with 13,000 attendees choosing to receive the m-ticket directly to their mobile phone." commented Adam Dunne, Sales & Marketing Director for AURA Digital.

M-tickets are around half the cost of mailed paper tickets for the event organiser and offer the convenience of instant delivery and last minute availability. They also enhanced the CeBIT brand by association with innovative technology.

Aside from Japan and Korea, Australia leads the western world in mobile ticketing technology. InfoSalons Australia and their technology partner, AURA Digital Communications, delivered the world's first trade show application last year, which was later awarded the 2004 Global Mobile Messaging Award for 'Best Enterprise Solution'. Now InfoSalons can also lay claim the world's largest mobile ticketed event.

AURA Digital partners with United International Pictures (UIP) ,their media agency Mediaedge:cia, and Adshel to launch a revolutionary interactive advertising

AURA Digital Communications will partner with United International Pictures (UIP) and Adshel to launch a revolutionary interactive advertising technology called Hypertags for the upcoming release of War of the Worlds on June 29, 2005.

Selected bus shelters have been chosen to display War of the Worlds posters using Hypertag technology. This allows the public to interact with the advertising panel through the infrared device in their mobile phone. Consumers can download War of the Worlds mobile phone ring tones and wallpapers straight from the advertising sign free of charge. Advertisers will be able to measure consumer interactions to gauge the success of the campaign.

The themed Adshel bus shelters are part of a broader national Adshel campaign. This will feature fully wrapped War of the Worlds creative executions, in addition to stickers on the ground, in the bus shelter, the first time the creative execution has "come to life" off the shelter itself.

Mike Selwyn, Managing Director of UIP comments, "With War of the Worlds, Steven Spielberg and Tom Cruise have created the most spectacular and thought-provoking film of the year. It is only appropriate for us to partner with AURA Digital and Adshel to launch the film using this new and ground-breaking interactive advertising technology."

Aura is recognised as a leader in mobile marketing technology and the global pioneer of mobile ticketing. Adam Dunne, AURA Sales & Marketing Director, comments, "Hypertag technology allows advertisers to engage and interact with consumers as they pass by out-of home media, such as street furniture and posters. They can download free mobile content such as ringtones, wallpapers, games or m-vouchers."

"The alien invasion has hit Australia," Steve McCarthy, Adshel CEO comments, "we are extremely excited about this launch - a first for the industry in the southern hemisphere. The War of the Worlds campaign is a great example of a valued client using cutting edge technology that works on street furniture. Combining UIP's creative idea with this technology will result in a hugely anticipated never-before-been-seen movie launch, and out of home is the perfect environment to do this."
