Ericsson, BB Mobile Successfully Hand Over IMS Service between 3G and WLAN
Tokyo, Japan, Jul 29, 2005 (JCN Newswire via COMTEX) -- Ericsson and BB Mobile, a Softbank affiliate, jointly completed the world's first test with an IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) between a 3G mobile network and a wireless local area network (WLAN).
The demonstration, using Softbank BB's Yahoo! BB ADSL WLAN network and Ericsson's W-CDMA 3G mobile network, showed that end users can enjoy the IMS service seamlessly by continuously connecting either to the LAN or the 3G.
The two partners plan to incorporate this seamless handover function into the release 8 of the 3GPP.
