Many retail bidders/sellers can ask for their bids/asks to be hidden. Sometimes I have broken my bids up in smaller amounts with various prices just so they WOULDN'T be displayed, so I could offer bid support without 'tempting' someone to sell.

There have been shareholders even on this board who sold to each other in a prearranged manner due to unforseen financial hardships/opportunities.

I am not naive enough to think underhanded dealings never occur; but I would agree that the likelihood of their occurance would almost never be in an illiquid stock. If someone was going to steal a tool from their jobsite, would they hide among a large crowd of workers who are punching out and going to their vehicles or walk all alone by themselves past the guardhouse? Same idea on MM's 'sneaking' in some 'shady deals' - they will do it on stocks with great liquidity.

Be careful, most people get burned by penny
stocks.
