So, in order to try to be fair, what I do, which may, or may not be incorrect, is, when a similar issues pops up here, I use a "Carpet Bomb" approach. ALL posts related to the original deletion, as well as the original, get deleted too. Of course, if a person feels their post was deleted "incorrectly", they always have a right to appeal to iH Admin Matt. AFAIK, Only one person has appealed (guess who?) and Matt made him remove the personal attack sentence, prior to undeleting the post. In cases where I feel the personal attack is on me, I don't delete, but instead click the "Report TOS Violation" link, and let Matt decide.

So far, I haven't received any complaints of favoritism, although there has been some bitc.... umm "concern", over the carpet bomb approach. All I can say is, that approach seems to be working, so far.
