You are quite right, Goldstrike. The more precise quotations and the logic used in argument are, the better. Putting a string of words between quotation marks should guarantee an exact correspondence with what was said originally. Otherwise the whole issue is fudged, and spin sets in.

It is meaningfully different. As I said, quotes should be rendered accurately. Otherwise it is not a quote and does not belong in quote marks. Not to be picky, but language carries a lot of meaning and replacement of a few words as you just did implies a markedly different reaction in the reader.
