Subject: Good afternoon, a question... if the DME pump can run other (vapor)
gas fuels?

Hello,

I was just curious on how flexible the ADTC DME fuel systems are.
(and since it is being adapted for JP-8 military fuels)

I was looking at a EU green energy website last night and read that Europe
is already running over 650,000
(vapor) gas powered vehicles (from various fuels like nat gas, and bio
methane) and was wondering
if the AFCT DME fuel system can be adapted to run other (vapor) gas fuels.

And if so, if it could be computer programed by the driver to change
settings to run several fuels in one car on in the fuel injection system
(with seperate fuel holding tanks, ect.)

The multi fuel engine idea that was submitted a while back to the navy would
help with getting started until the bio fuel market grows and stabilizes.

Here is a link to the website, and a short summary.

than you for your time and happy holidays

(*the EU just released news they are going to enforce Airplane carbon
trading and finally get them to pay for air pollution too.)

A usa shareholder.

"Use of gas as a transport fuel in Europe

Gas is widely used as a transport fuel in many European countries, notably
Italy, which boasts 650,000 gas powered vehicles. Sweden is a world leader
in upgrading and use of biomethane for transport, and has many 'biogas
vehicles', including private cars, buses, and even a biogas train and a
biogas powered touring car team.

The Netherlands is also expanding it's use of natural gas vehicles, and in
September 2010 opened its 50th CNG filling station."

Jim's reply,

I didn't read the article, but I know the technology. Natural gas & biogas
are both essentially methane that has a high octane rating. This means that
the fuel is only suitable for spark ignited engines. However, many diesel
engines are converted to run on this fuel by changing pistons and cylinder
heads and installing spark plugs.

There are a lot of claims about great efficiency, but the engines are only
slightly more efficient than a gasoline engine. A diesel is 25-30% more
efficient.

Cummins-Westport sells converted diesel engines that burn natural gas and
bio-gas. Their volume over many models is a few thousand engines/year. Why
do they do it? Politics, and they can charge a fortune for the engines.
