You know that we are only "splitting hairs" here at this point.
Do the math.
There isn't much time left to discern the Top Ten in the contest after all.
I'd suspect that whether the rule change took effect yesterday or not, that the results would end up the same.
My last comment on this whole issue is that it is not good to change the rules of a contest this late in the contest. As you can see, it only created animosity for some.
