I think the reason the company chose to sell more to Seaside was for insurance against unpredictable bad events that might make it impossible for them to raise funds on better terms than Seaside was currently offering. The company wanted to have enough cash in hand to advance things to the point where the current low stock price would no longer be justified. They were not willing to take the risk that the funds needed for that would be available in a world-wide financial crisis. If we complain now, it is like complaining that we spent a lot on fire insurance but, so far, there has been no fire.
