A note about patent applications...

Patent applications are not published right away and are extremely hard to find. Further, several factors go into where they are published, e.g. is it an international filing - if so, in which country was the PCT (the international form of application) filed?

Many American companies file their applications in foreign countries for myriad reasons - cost savings, speed of review, region of business emphasis, etc. The fact that no one can find anything on DROP via the USPTO website at this point is not a surprise. For an exercise, try to find recent filings by Microsoft, Apple and Google...they are filing patent applications weekly, if not daily...see how many you find - I would bet you don't find many, because companies don't want to let their competitors know what they are doing in real time. At some point, however, their applications will be published...I wouldn't expect it any time soon.

I think it is good to question management - and asking about the extent of IP filings is fair game...but the fact that an individual investor can't find anything substantive at the USTO site is a predictable outcome that has no reflection at all on DROP.
