Happy New Year to all from Germany. It is 8PM New Years Eve here.

I started working with GE in Schenectady NY as a Junior Programmer in 1968 on GE's 635 line of mainframes running GECOSII. Didn't have any networking capability only batch input using cards. In 1970 I went to Paris France (my first wife was French) and worked for Bull-GE which later bacame Honeywell-Bull, still working on the GE-635 but running the GCOS3 operating system with a networking capability of 300-600 baud rate. Went up through the Honeywell mainframes from the H6000 up to the DPS8's all running the GCOS3 - GCOS8 operating system. Worked at NASA Kennedy SPace center on the Shuttle Ground Operation Support System from 1995 to 1998. Spent most of my career after that in Germany with the military's World Wide Military Control System (WWMCCS - Honeywell mainframes). Spent 6 years in Kuwait from 1994 until 2010 and returned to Germany in 2010.

I bought my first PC in 1983 when working for Tenneco Oil and Exploration in Houston, TX. It was a TRS80 with 2-5and 1/4 floppy drives running TRSDOS operating system. It's still in storage and I long to see if it still runs.

I sometime find it mind boggling as I set here with my laptop which has more power and storage capacity than many of the mainframes which I worked with.

Didn't mean to get this "wordy" when I started out. Just wanted to wish you all a Happy New Year.

By the way, I just received my first Social Security deposit this month.

I'm ready to see this thing take off. Come on B.B., get us going in 2012. Retirement is just around the corner and I'd like to not worry about the future.
