One of the purposes of a Phase II trial is to make sure you have an efficacious and drug and also to better understand what additional modifications to the P2 have to be made. In this case what is required is a longer trial period as Bavi proved efficacious, which considering there might have been no response whatsoever is pretty darn good.

The Phase III will have to be for a longer period, which means it will be more expensive. Patient monitoring of P2 patients need not stop BTW and probably won't.

Additionally the Interferon intolerant HCV patients is a decent sized market and should not be treated as though it was not.
