Did anyone else catch the NPR piece on pharmocogenetics yesterday evening?

It was very interesting. It focused on a Dr. at the Mayo Clinic in Minn. who has been into it for 20 years now who talked about it being like a kid in a candy store with the human genome project data. LOTS of stuff to find for everyone.

Mentioned that this niche industry is ready to burst at the seams.

Unfortunately it also focused on a group at St. Judes that have developed a simple blood test for determining whether a persons liver enzymes were more or less effective at handling certain medications (converting them to a water soluable form so you can then get it out of you before it rises to toxic levels) to customize dosage, etc. Kinda sounds like dr. tony's idea.....except they have it working already and in use.

hmmmmmmmm....

fyi
